Capital Letter
There are languages, like for example German, where every noun is written with a capital letter. English, as you might have noticed already, is different in this matter. Generally speaking, all words are started with a lower case letter, all but the following.
A capital letter is used for:
- The first word of every sentence.
- The pronoun I.
- The names of people.
- The names of streets, cities, provinces, states and countries.
- Languages.
- The names of places.
- The names of days, months and holidays.
- A person's initials.
- The greeting and the closing of a letter.
- An interjection or exclamation such as Oh! and Ouch!
